Parrot, Check; Goggles, Check

A tiny, goggle-wearing parrot named Obi-Wan Kenobi is helping scientists shed light on what they still don't know about the physics and mechanics of flight. The scientists first trained Obi-Wan to fly from perch to perch and then fitted him with some special, 3D-printed goggles to protect his eyes from the lasers they used to track his flight. They used these lasers as a way to three-dimensionally observe the vortices birds create when they flap their wings. The scientists hope this research can help them create better flying robots.
