KidsHealth.org is a website devoted to the health of children and teens. The site has four main areas: one for kids, one for teens, one for parents, and one for educators. The kids section is colorful and entertaining and includes interactives, games, videos, and articles on things that kids might want to know about, like staying healthy, staying safe, illnesses and injuries, health problems, etc. In addition to these sections, the site has four features that it highlights: What's Hot, In the Spotlight, The Daily Brain Buzz, and Big Questions.

The teen section focuses on some of the same things that the kids section does, with the addition of things like school and jobs, and drugs and alcohol. This section also features four highlights, like: Hot Topics, Take Five Tips for Life, Expert Answers On, and Quiz.

The Parents page has a lot of good information on topics like childhood stress, attention disorders, allergies, keeping the home safe, and a comprehensive, detailed listing of childhood infections.

Going Further

For Educators

You could use the articles in any of the sections to supplement a health unit. Some of the children's learning lessons would also be appropriate for adult learners, especially those in family literacy settings. To help your students use the site, you could refer them to it if they need to research information about a particular health topic or to learn about human anatomy and various body systems.

You could specifically use the educator section of the site to access teaching guides for preschool through the twelfth grade.
