The AAAS Writing about Science Gallery is a partner gallery of The National Gallery of Writing hosted by The National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). The Gallery accommodates any composition format—from word processing to photography, audio recording to text messages—and all types of writing—from letters to lists, memoirs to memos. America's writing will be front and center on October 20, 2009—the National Day on Writing. On that day, writers from every walk of life will pause to share their work. Communities across the nation are planning events to celebrate local writing, and NCTE will open the virtual National Gallery of Writing for all to appreciate the rich variety of work on display. The National Gallery will continue to accept submissions until June 1, 2010, and will remain open to readers through June 30, 2010.
The AAAS Writing about Science Gallery will focus on the theme of science writing. As such, it encourages submissions about science books or other writings that have inspired an interest in science. The theme is meant to be broad and can include writing that reflects on how words can be used to describe or explain the natural world.
