My Awesome Summer by P. Mantis Poster Worksheet

My Awesome Summer by P. Mantis Poster Worksheet

Introduction

Now that you've learned a little bit about praying mantises by reading a hybrid text, you will conduct some research to learn more about them and then create a poster of the life cycle of the praying mantis. Complete this worksheet first to help you gather the information you need to create your poster.

Research

Include each stage of life of the praying mantis in your life cycle. These stages are egg, nymph, and adult. For each stage, answer these questions on your poster:

Egg

Nymph

Adult

What does the praying mantis look like? (size, color, shape)

What does the praying mantis eat?

For how long is the praying mantis in this phase?

What kind of habitat does the praying mantis live in during this phase?

Poster Preparation

Decide if you want to illustrate the life cycle of a praying mantis in a circular cycle or in a linear timeline.

Use the information you've gathered to create your poster. Your poster should have at least 3 images: 1. egg, 2. nymph, and 3. adult. You may also include images of the habitat, food, or predators of the praying mantis.

Your life cycle images should include captions that use the information you found for each stage.

You will present your poster to your class. Spend some time learning the material and preparing what you might share with them.

Your teacher will provide you with a rubric so you know what you will be graded on.
