National Engineers Week

The 61st anniversary of National Engineers Week is February 19–25. This event is designed to raise awareness of all the ways engineering contributes to our daily lives and foster interest in future generations of engineers. “7 Billion Dreams” is the 2012 theme and is based on the projected world population of 7 billion and the challenges facing the world that require immediate engineering solutions.

Encourage your class to get involved with this collection of related resources from Science NetLinks. Students can construct model boats, learn about the technology of spacecrafts, find out how engineering helps contribute to waste disposal, play a game to help power a city, and watch a video about the biomechanics of skateboarding.
